What do you feed your dog?

What do you feed your dog?

Augie, our foster dog, is on a homeade diet of Sweet Potatoes, Rice, Carrots, Chicken, Beef, Pumpkin, Cottage Cheese, and Yogurt, with fresh veggies mixed in.   Which made Scott & I wonder- what do other people feed their dogs?  Henry, our other weim, gets Dick Van Patten's Duck & Potato, which he loves.  It's a great food for dogs with allergies.

Augie, though, is another story :)  His stomach is not processing commercial dog food- it makes his belly really gassy, and makes him prone to bloat.  So we've taken him off pellet food, and are cooking for him.  He loves it- this is one spoiled dog!   So, what do you feed your dog?

When Life gives you a Pond, Play Ball!

We decided to go outside today, and enjoy what Mother Nature left in our front yard this morning.   Henry is all weim, and wasted no time splashing around in the water.  Augie, on the other hand, took some time to get used to it.  Eventually he was splashing a bit too, and excited to go get his ball.  Enjoy the pics!

Blue and Buddy need a Foster or Forever Family

I had the pleasure today of checking in on two of Weim Rescue's boarded weims, Blue and Buddy.  They are being boarded at Greymont Kennels in Fairview, TN, due to lack of foster homes.   Greymont is a wonderful facility (my own weims LOVE it), but boarding is extremely stressful for weimaraners.  They desperately need human interaction to thrive.

Blue is a young, laid-back weim who is a little timid, but super sweet once he warms up to you.  He needs someone to show him what love really is!

Buddy is a young, excitable weim with a FULL TAIL!  He is a lot of fun, and needs a more active family who can play with him and burn off his excess energy.  He is a face-licker who loves to be petted!

Please consider fostering Blue, Buddy or any of our weims.  Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do for a dog who has, through no fault of his own, lost his family.   Check out the weims available and fill out an application for foster or adoption at http://www.weimrescue.com/
We appreciate your support!

Augie is looking for a Forever Family

Augie is waiting for a family to call his very own!  He needs a calm, loving family who will cuddle this older gentleman and give him the attention he deserves.  He is not your typical weim- Augie is a couch potato, not a marathon runner :)    He just wants to be fed, petted, and near his person.  Won't you consider giving Augie the good life?

Sammy is ADOPTED!!

Sweet Sammy has been adopted by an amazing family with two great kids.  They love him like they've had him forever!  We just love happy endings!

Augie just wants someone to love!

Meet Augie, our foster since October.  He is such a sweet gentleman!  He's approx 6 years old, and came to us extremely skinny.  He has started to put on some weight, and is finally looking good.  He bloated last month, but has healed up just fine.  His stomach has now been tacked, so a reoccurrence is highly unlikely.

Augie loves to be with people, and will follow you wherever you go.  He curls up on the couch when you do, and just wants a little attention.  He is good on a leash, and while not overly active, still likes play time and chasing a ball.

He would be best as an only dog, or with an older dog.  Older children would be fine as well- Augie would make the perfect little boy's companion!  We would love for Augie to have the life he deserves with a family that loves him.

If you are interested in Augie or would like to fill out an adoption application, please go to http://www.weimrescue.com/.    You'll be glad you did!

Sammy, looking for a great home

Here is Sammy!  He is an amazing Weimie.  We have been fostering him since November 18th, and he has come such a long way.  He was boarded for about 4 months due to heartworm disease, but he is all better now and looking for a great home.

He is a CKC certified Weimie.  We don't know why he was abandoned, but he sure didn't deserve it.  Sammy loves to run and play, and needs a fenced yard, or someone who could walk/run him every day.  He is pretty calm indoors for a weim, and just wants to snuggle with his humans.  He is great with other dogs (large and small)- we haven't tested him with cats yet.  He does love to chase squirrels though.  He's not a counter surfer, and would be great with older kids.  He even likes his crate!  He's not much of a barker, and is learning to chase a ball.

We'll keep you posted of his progress, and if you're interested, Sammy would love for you to fill out an application on http://www.weimrescue.com/.  Thanks!

So here we are!

Welcome to our blog!  We are a family of 2 adults, a weimaraner, and a yorkie, plus 2 foster weimaraners.  It's a house full! Our blog is a little about us, our home and city, and a lot about our Weimaraners!

This blog is dedicated to all the weimies without a family of their own, and it's our way of helping the few that we can.  If you are interested in one of our fosters, please feel free to post a comment here, or log onto http://www.weimrescue.com/ and fill out an adoption application.  Weim Rescue of the South is an amazing organization, and we are proud to be a volunteer for them.

We hope you enjoy this piece of our lives!
